Branch fears he will never be the same

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Deion Branch said he fears that the knee injury won’t allow him to ever be 100 percent again.

The wide receiver missed almost all of last season with a serious knee injury that has cost him some speed and cutting ability.

Another offseason has allowed him to regain some of that athletic ability, but he still isn’t the same guy he once was.

Many remember Branch for the shifty, quicky guy who was the leading receiver for some pretty explosive New England offenses.

It remains to be seen whether anyone will see that guy again.

Redding happy to be with new teammates

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Cory Redding finally took the field for the first time with his new teammates.

The defensive tackle suffered a dislocated kneecap in the middle of last season and just started running for the first time about a month ago.

Redding was a part of the trade in the offseason that sent linebacker Julian Peterson to the Detroit Lions.

While the Seahawks had a rough and disappointing 2008 season, Redding must be thrilled to get a ticket out of Detroit.

Seahawks sign Greene

The Seattle Seahawks have come to terms with draft pick Courtney Greene, a safety from Rutgers.

Greene signed a four-year contract with the team after being selected in the seventh round by Seattle.

He was no slouch, earning first-team all Big East honors last season. He was one of the team’s three seventh round selections.

Seattle certainly has a need in the secondary, but Greene will likely fight just to make the team out of training camp.

Hasselback healthy so far

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselback’s back is holding up so far during offseason camps, and the team is hopeful it will remain that way.

Hasselback has a history of back problems, and they actually began to affect his knee last year.

If something should happen to Hasselback, backup quarterback Seneca Wallace would start.

Wallace saw significant time under center last year and did show improvement, but his erratic play still showed why he is considered nothing more than a backup.
