NEWS
The Seattle Seahawks have had some disappointing losses this year, but none will likely go down as bad as their 24-7 home defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Head coach Jim Mora has bashed his team in recent weeks for gaining a reputation around the NFL as being soft.
Mora pledged that the coaching staff would quickly find out a lot about different players on the team in the final few games.
I can only imagine what he might have to say when asked about this debacle. Giving up 24 points to the Bucs and putting just a touchdown on the board is beyond pathetic.
About the only bright spot was tight end John Carlson, who finished with 86 yards and a touchdown.

The Seattle Seahawks fell behind early and could never recover in a 34-7 loss to the Houston Texans.
Seattle had absolutely no answer for the Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson connection, which terrorized them throughout the game.
Johnson had nearly 200 yards receiving and two touchdowns while Schaub found the end zone three times.
The offense also had no answer in a game where they knew they would have to put up a lot of points to have a chance to win.
It was the type of loss that will anger head coach Jim Mora, who recently accused his own team of being soft.

The Seattle Seahawks didn’t make it easy, but they hung on for a 20-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Quarterback Matt Hasselback led the Seahawks with nearly 200 yards passing and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver Deion Branch managed to catch one of the touchdown passes, so apparently he still has a pulse after all.
Running back Julius Jones made his return to the lineup and led the team in rushing with 67 yards on 20 carries.
The Seahawks are still hanging somewhat around the NFC wild card race, but are a very long shot to get in.

With RB Frank Gore complaining about his reduced role in Mike Singletary’s offense, the Seahawks feared retribution from Gore, as the Niners ran for nearly 300 yards earlier this season in their first meeting with the Seahawks.
Instead, the Seahawks had to stomach Niners QB Alex Smith’s career passing day, as he threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns, but the ‘Hawks escaped with the 17-14 win after Olindo Mare kicked a 30-yard field goal as time expired.
“It’s a load off when they take care of one of our problems for us. It was … beautiful,” Seattle rookie outside linebacker Aaron Curry said.
Gore, who ran for 202 yards in the first meeting against the Seahawks, was limited to nine carries for 25 yards on Sunday.
“Any time you play a team that rushes for almost 300 yards, why not do that again — or at least attempt to?” Curry said.
Seahawks coach Jim Mora said of Gore: “I’m glad he didn’t have the ball more.”
Instead, the ‘Hawks got to watch QB Matt Hasselbeck go to work – after not throwing a touchdown in the Seahawks’ last two games, Hasselbeck threw two on Sunday.
The Hawks and Niners moved to 5-7 on the season, likely crushing both teams’ playoff hopes. They’re both three games behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC’s Wild Card spots.

The Seattle Seahawks announced that general manager Tim Ruskell would be stepping down at a news conference on Thursday.
“Obviously there’s great sadness today but I will leave here with great memories of this place and the people. It’s been the people for me,” Ruskell said.
Ruskell, in the final year of a five-year contract, recognized the Seahawks’ reluctance to commit to him for the long-term, and decided to make it easier on everyone by stepping down now.
“We were getting ready to go into those meetings about free agency and the offseason,” Ruskell said. “If I am not going to spearhead those meetings and it wasn’t going to happen no matter what our record was, you become a lame duck. And I did not want that.”
Ruskell arrived before the 2005 season, a year in which the Seahawks rallied around Matt Hasselbeck to make a trip to the franchise’s only trip to the Super Bowl ever.
But the Seahawks have fallen by the wayside as of late, with an 8-19 record since the beginning of last season. With coach Mike Holmgren retiring from the team last year and being replaced by former Falcons coach, Jim Mora Jr., the Seahawks decided to make even more changes in the administration.

The Seattle Seahawks kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 27-17 win over the St. Louis Rams.
Running back Justin Forsett had a huge game, topping the 150-yard rushing mark and finding the end zone twice.
It was a strong defensive effort by the Seahawks against running back Steven Jackson, who had really been terrorizing opponents of late. Jackson did manage 87 yards on the ground and a touchdown, but had to earn each and every one of those yards.
Seattle’s victory keeps them alive in the race for a playoff spot, although they barely have a pulse.

Julius Jones who?
That’s what the Seahawks must be asking themselves after watching RB Justin Forsett explode for 130 yards and two touchdowns in their 27-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Stepping into the starting lineup to replace Jones, who continues to recover from a bruised lung, the Seahawks leaned on Forsett all day and he responded in tow. After only managing a paltry four yards of total rushing against the Minnesota Vikings last week, the Seahawks deliberately worked on re-calibrating their rushing attack.
“We’ve been working very hard getting the run game going and it was definitely a point of emphasis,” Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck said. “The fact we had some breakout runs, some explosive gains in the run game, it’s really a good thing.”
The Seahawks managed to win on Sunday despite one of Hasselbeck’s less impressive performances, statistically speaking. He finished 14-of-25 for 102 yards, but the Seahawks didn’t ask too much of Hasselback on Sunday, as they were happy to lean on their running game and defense.
“No matter what their record is, you’ve got to celebrate, be happy and keep it going,” said cornerback Josh Wilson, who had a 65-yard pick-six towards the end of the first half. “If it wasn’t for the ‘W’ I wouldn’t be doing this interview with a smile on my face.”
The win moves the Seahawks up to 4-7 on the season; while they likely will miss the playoffs, they still have the talent to play the spoiler role for a few teams left on their schedule.
