The Seattle Seahawks acquired running back Leon Washington from the New York Jets for a fifth round pick.
The team also was sent New York’s seventh round selection so as not to lose a draft pick in the deal.
Washington will now come into what is suddenly an extremely crowded backfield situation in Seattle.
The team already has T.J. Duckett, Julius Jones and Justin Forsett, and that was before they added Washington and LenDale White in separate trades.
Washington will likely be battling with Forsett for playing time as the backup running back and third down back.

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired running back LenDale White from the Tennessee Titans for draft picks.
White saw a significant decline in his playing time when he lost the starting job to running back Chris Johnson, one of the biggest stars in the league.
He was also not a great teammate given the fact he was often late to team meetings and did not keep himself in the best of shape.
He now gets the opportunity to reunite with former college head coach Pete Carroll and see a significant increase in his playing time with the Seahawks.
White will see a lot of carries on the goaline and also may end up being the team’s starting running back, splitting carries with Leon Washington.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Patrick Kerney has announced his sudden retirement from the NFL.
Kerney, 33, told the Seahawks during the offseason that he was going to return for another season.
The defensive end cited a battered body that wouldn’t allow him to continue to play as the reason for the decision.
He underwent shoulder surgeries during the 2008 and 2009 seasons and had an operation on his elbow this past year.
Kerney will be remembered by teammates for his relentless style of play in rushing the quarterback.

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill was arrested for investigation of domestic violence.
This news came just days after Hill reached a plea agreement on a marijuana charge he faced in Georgia.
The team is obviously very unhappy with all of his off-the-field trouble and has told him to stay away from the facility.
They want Hill to deal will all of his issues in his personal life and get them cleared up before rejoining the team.
With a new head coach in Seattle, Hill is certainly not endearing himself to Pete Carroll and could also be subjected to discipline by the NFL.
