Seahawks sign Losman

The Seattle Seahawks have signed quarterback J.P. Losman to a one-year contract worth $630,000.

Losman was supposed to become the franchise quarterback with the Buffalo Bills but never developed into that type of player.

The quarterback definitely has a strong arm but has never been able to put it all together.

He played in the UFL last season to try and resurrect his career and then finished the season with the Oakland Raiders.

He is being brought in by the Seahawks to possibly become the third quarterback behind Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst.

Jones announces retirement

Seattle Seahawks star left tackle Walter Jones has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Jones hasn’t played since late in the 2008 season, so the announcement comes as no surprise.

During that time, Jones underwent two procedures on his knees to try and allow him to get back out on the field.

During his 13-year career, Jones was considered one of the best left tackles in the game and was a four-time All Pro.

The team is expected to immediately retire his jersey, and it’s likely he has a spot in Canton awaiting him.

Seahawks get Okung, Thomas

The Seattle Seahawks had about the best draft they could have imagined thanks to players that fell to them.

With the No. 6 overall pick, offensive tackle Russell Okung dropped to them to become the heir apparent to Walter Jones on the left side of the line.

Some felt Okung was the best tackle in the draft, but Trent Williams was selected before him and other teams opted to focus on other positions.

At No. 14 overall, safety Earl Thomas somehow slid down the draft board to become a Seattle Seahawk.

Thomas was considered the second best safety in the draft behind Eric Berry and a big-time playmaker.
